We have been advised by South Lanarkshire Council of a road closure affecting Wellgate in Lanar on 3rd and 4th December. Details are shown below.
If you're still not sure who to vote for on Dec 12th, why not come along to Biggar Community Council's "Meet the Candidate" hustings: on Friday 6th December from 7.30 to 9 PM in Biggar Kirk All four candidates for the Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale constituency will be on hand to answer questions from the community on a range of topics.
If you would like to ask a question, then these must be submitted by 12 noon on Friday 6th Dec either via email to [email protected] or on paper in the boxes which are situated in the Gillespie Centre and Biggar Library. If you have limited mobility, you will be able to drive through the kirkyard from Carwood Road to get close to the entrance. There is then a short uphill path, but no steps to reach the kirk. We look forward to seeing all of you there. Biggar Community Council is grateful to Biggar Kirk Session for providing use of the Kirk for this event. Biggar Community Council has 2 Vacancies. The role of the Community Council and its Councillors is to bridge the gap between the community the local authority (in our case, South Lanarkshire Council) and to act as a voice for the local area. This involves them articulating the views and concerns of local people in their area on a wide range of issues of public concern and making representations to their Council, other public sector bodies and private agencies on matters within their sphere of interest. Community Councillors are ordinary people who care about our community and want to make it as good as it can be! If you are interested in becoming a Community Councillor, then please download and complete the nomination form and return it by the closing date of 20th December 2019. All Community Councillors have to sign and abide by the Code of Conduct. You can read this by clicking on the link. If you would like any more details, or would like to discuss your potential nomination with one of our community councillors, then please go to our Contact Us page. We have been asked by South Lanarkshire Carers Network to share their latest newsletter with you.
